What We Collect

When you use Contract Sentinel, we collect:

• Account information: email address, password (stored securely, hashed), and company name provided during onboarding
• Uploaded documents: contracts you upload, including the raw file and extracted text
• Analysis data: AI-generated risk scores, obligations, key dates, and flagged clauses associated with your uploaded documents
• Usage data: basic information about how you interact with the Service, such as pages visited and features used

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the Service, including running AI analysis on your uploaded documents
• Maintain your account and authenticate your access
• Process payments if you subscribe to a paid plan
• Improve and troubleshoot the Service
• Communicate with you about your account or the Service

AI Processing of Your Documents

When you upload a contract, the extracted text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis. This means:

• Your document content is transmitted to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the risk analysis
• We do not control how Anthropic processes API requests beyond what is disclosed in Anthropic's own privacy policy and API terms
• Do not upload documents containing information you are not authorized to share with third parties

Data Storage and Security

• Your account information and extracted contract text are stored in our database (hosted by a third-party cloud database provider)
• We implement reasonable technical measures to protect your data, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure
• We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

• Service providers who help us operate the Service (e.g., our database host, our AI provider, our payment processor)
• Legal authorities if required by law, subpoena, or court order
• A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

Payment Information

If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card information — Stripe's own privacy policy governs how your payment data is handled.

Data Retention

We retain your account information and uploaded document data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your associated data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us through your account email. You may also delete individual uploaded contracts directly from your dashboard.

Children's Privacy

Contract Sentinel is not intended for use by individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
